Alex performed a thorough inspection of the home we are purchasing and took the time to explain his findings as well as how to maintain the property. The results are summarized in a well organized report with suggested fixes for any issues. He also gave us a book detailing what it takes to maintain a home which is a nice bonus. Alex inspected our recently-purchased condo in Brookline. He was extremely thorough, both in the unit itself and also inspecting the common areas, boiler, ac and garage. He gave us a detailed report only a couple of days after the inspection and pointed out things to look out for. Altogether a great experience and very helpful.

Undoubtedly the best home inspection assessment and report we've ever had. Alex is No.1. He inspected a commercial property we own - a 3-family 100 yr. old residence. His inspection was thorough and will help us in the future to keep our property in good shape. His report was organized into sections that make it easy to know what needs to be attended to now vs what can wait a bit vs. future maintenance issues. Photos were included of the trouble spots. He gave us information about how to approach maintenance and how to care for equipment that we didn't know. He interacted with our tenants in a friendly and helpful manner and with our caretaker. He called us after we received the report and said he was available to help with any questions we had. We give him an over-the-top outstanding rating. We did this home inspection for our information. It served its purpose and will save us trouble and money in the future.

Alex is fantastic! He was incredibly friendly and thorough, despite the freezing temperatures. He took the time to make sure my husband and I understood all the areas/things he was checking and also made sure we understood what to be aware of and look out for in the future. We requested a full-house inspection because contractors were pushing us to pay for extremely expensive repairs. As Alex examined the house from roof to basement, he explained how the contractors were trying to bilk us, and thereby saved us a considerable sum. Throughout the three-hour inspection, Alex used a variety of high-tech tools to aid visual observations. My husband tagged along and received a master’s course in dealing with an old house’s problems. The extremely thorough final report broke everything down into useful priorities: expensive problems just waiting to happen, what should be done next, areas no longer up to current code, and lesser problems. Throughout all our questions, Alex remained patient, good-humored, highly professional, and explained everything on a level we could understand.

Alex Steinberg is a very fine consultant on basement flooding issues. He is very knowledgeable and offers some really innovative and imaginative solutions to a tough problem. From suggesting we replace shallow wooden gutters to suggesting we reconfigure the slope of the yard to sump pump. suggestions he was extraordinarily helpful to us. He is also very personable and has a great sense of humor. He suggested some very useful contractors to help us with our problems, and was very prompt with follow up when we needed it. I would recommend him without any hesitation whatsoever.

Alex and his team were very responsive, thorough, and professional. We learned so much about the house and home maintenance during the inspection alone. Alex is the absolute best. He did a thorough inspection of a 7 unit resi building leaving no stone unturned. He was patient and knowledgeable explaining everything as he worked through the units. Don’t worry if you don’t catch everything because it’s all detailed in his report. Not only does he have all the hard skills and equipment to do the job, but he is also kind and an overall great guy. AND he is reasonably priced. I will only use Alex as my inspector going forward.

Alex inspected our condo in a 150 year old home, a few months after our purchase to help us look ahead to future repairs. He was very thorough, inspecting both inside and outside the condo. The report was super helpful in pointing out things that needed to be done in the near future, and things to monitor and decide later. Highly recommend for either before your home purchase or later when you might want a heads up to what's ahead in your home!

Alex was knowledgeable, professional, and very thorough. As a homeowner, I was looking for a home inspector who could tell me what to expect in planning for a renovation project. I am so glad that Alex was recommended by my neighbors. He did a three-hour walkthrough of the exterior/interior of my home: poking, prodding, and sizing-up everything from the roof to the foundation, the electrical system, furnace, hot water heater, insulation, structural issues, and even minor issues. One big question that I had was how to make my home more energy efficient in anticipation of installing heat pumps in the future--and he was able to give me some important pointers. Alex produced a full report and a summary report ranging from major deficiencies and safety issues to needed repairs and future repairs. This is precisely the information that I wanted to prioritize work that needs to be done. Alex was the top recommendation of our realtor, herself quite capable and experienced. My wife and I have had a few house inspections done over the years and we have never had an inspection and report as thorough and useful as Alex’s was. The experience itself was more like spending half a day with an old friend than having an inspection done by a stranger. He went over every inch of our house and property, methodically and patiently explaining everything he saw. We really appreciated how willing he was to answer all of our (many) questions and how clear, practical and understandable all his responses were. He gave us tons of helpful advice, and gave us recommendations for folks he trusts to do the work when we asked him for them. He was warm and funny, professional and responsive. After receiving the report, we contacted him from time to time with questions and he was immediately responsive. My three-unit condo association hired Alex to inspect our 110-year-old building, and we’re so glad we did! We knew the building needed some repairs, and wanted helping prioritizing those as well as getting a sense of what else might be on the horizon. Alex was great—thoughtful and professional and a good communicator. He was very thorough, especially in the basement, where he gave us an educational tour of the building’s systems and discovered (uh oh) some active knob-and-tube wiring. It was a lot of information, so I really appreciated the report with photos that arrived later the same day. It’s hugely helpful to know what requires attention soon (and why), and what can be tackled later. Our inspection with Alex was an excellent investment, in terms of both planning repairs for the building and bringing us greater peace of mind.
